Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
