Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

An important representative stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
